Mirror Somehow, some way, everyone had all of a sudden turned against me, even my best friends. What did I do this time? Yesterday, my friends surrounded me and I seemed like I was the most popular girl in school...but today I almost seemed invisible.... The bell rang and everyone began to report to homeroom. This was only the start of my miserable day. I entered the classroom and no body even glanced my way. I sat down in my usual seat next to my best friend. "Hey Dana!" I said. No answer. Hmmm...that's weird. I wonder what her problem is today? I thought. Well whatever, I can't make her speak. I looked at Dana closer and I realized her face was all red, and her eyes were tearing. Woah, I have never seen DANA ever cry before. It must be pretty bad whatever it is I thought. I began to feel bad for her, so I approached her again and said, "Dana, what's the matter? You can tell me anything, I will understand." Dana just looked towards me and again there was no answer. Mrs. Forgey began to take attendance.... "Char-lotte Boathouse?" said Mrs. Forgey. "Here." "Darr-en Ca-ruso?" "Here." "Isabel Ed-wards?" "Here," Isabel said loudly. "No Isabel today?" asked Mrs. Forgey. "No, I'm here!" Isabel stated a little louder. "Okay, I'm guessing she is not here then." "Ughhh! Whatever." All of a sudden, I saw Dana stand up run to the door, exit quickly, and the rest of the class got quiet as we heard Dana run towards the bathroom bawling. "How could this have happened? Why did this have to happen? I wish I could change everything. Well I better pull it together for now and get to class because I don't need any of my teachers yelling at me to make my day any worse," Dana said as she looked at herself in the mirror. The bell rang and it was time for literature class, but first I stopped at my best friend, Kaylie's locker. "Hi Kaylie! Do you know what's wrong with Dana by any chance?" I asked. No answer. I looked at Kaylie, and she too had a red face and teary eyes like Dana. "Oh, either her and Dana are having another fight, or I did something to both of them that I don't realize," I thought to myself. I walked away to my first class realizing that Kaylie did not want to talk to me let alone look at me. I arrived at my first class. I opened the door to the classroom and only a few looked my way and nobody acknowledged me. I rolled my eyes and sat down in my seat. It seemed like a regular reading class with Kaylie and Dana sitting a couple of desks behind me. First, we passed up our homework, and then we were given a sheet of paper to answer questions about our novel. Once I received the pile of questions, I handed them to the person behind me and caught a glimpse of both Dana and Kaylie. Both of their faces still had a tint of red and they looked furious at someone. I never imagined both of them to ever be so angry at someone. They wouldn't even look at each other. There seemed to be this thick brick wall between them which acted like a barrier that would never disappear again. I wonder why they are ignoring me. The frustrating literature class was finally over. I raised my hand about fifty times and didn't get called on once! Although, this was usual for Mr. Gould because he absolutely despises me and he has made his hate for me known. I walked down the long, narrow hallway that looked like it was closing in on me. I arrived at my math class, took a seat, and looked at the board while Miss Trass wrote up some problems. Math class actually went by pretty smoothly because I was able to understand the teacher and finish all of my work. The bell rang and it was time for gym class. I grabbed my gym clothes from my locker and made my way to the locker room. I changed my clothes, put on my sneakers, and left the locker room ready to play some volleyball. My usual team got together and we were ready to play our first game. We started off pretty well, but whenever the volleyball came to me, I either mishit it or missed it completely. My teammates just stared in my directions and rolled their eyes at one another. After my terrible time in gym class, I headed to lunch. I sat down next to Dana and Kaylie as usual. They barely looked at each other let alone me. I finally had to break the silence by taking a big drink of my water and slightly hitting it back on the table powerfully. Dana looked up and glanced at my drink, immediately running to the bathroom. "Parties. Alcohol. My mother. I knew better. What was I thinking? Why?" thoughts flashed across Dana's mind. "My face is bright red and my eyes have become extremely swollen. I just looked at myself in the mirror for a long time thinking about everything for a good while, just wondering. Wondering about what has happened, and how I will ever go on? Dana said to herself. I sat there confused yet again. "What is going on here? I don't get it," I thought. The bell rang and it was finally time for history class, which is my favorite. I walked through the busy halls making my way to the classroom. The class stood outside the door waiting for Mrs. Bergen to return to her classroom. Mrs. Bergen returned and it was time to enter the room. I sat down in my seat, waiting for the teacher's directions. The students started to watch a movie, so I decided it would be the best time to use the restroom. So, I stood up, signed out, and left the classroom. I walked down the never ending hallway only to arrive at the bathroom. I walked into the stall and sat down on the toilet. I looked to the left only to see Dana's feet. "Dana is that you?" I double-checked. "Mmm," mumbled Dana. "Okay, I'm taking that as a yes," I thought to myself. While I flushed the toilet, Dana opened the door to her stall quickly and ran to open the bathroom door and leave. I ran out of my stall. "Wait Dana! Wait!" I screamed. Dana looked back in fear and replied, "I can't believe it." Dana broke into tears. "What's the matter? What did I do?" I asked. "Isabel! You're dead! You're dead!" screamed Dana as thoughts about last nights party ran across her mind. "No I'm not! What are you talking about?" I asked confused. "You died last night!" yelled Dana. "No I didn't!" I yelled back. "We went to a party at Chris's house and you had way too much to drink. Kaylie said that we needed to call an ambulance but I refused. I didn't want everyone to get busted. You laid there for hours and then you were gone, taken by alcohol poisoning. Oh Isabe1, I'm so sorry. I didn't know what I was thinking. I should have known better because my own mother died from alcohol poisoning! I'm so selfish! I don't know what I was thinking. I am the reason for your death!" blurted out Dana. "Dana! I'm right here!" I said as I walked over to comfort her, but she didn't even react. I looked up into the mirror...and all that I saw was Dana....
